Our Priest

The Reverend Thomas R. Finnie

Background

Fr. Tom was born in Albany, New York and raised in the mountains of Western Pennsylvania. He holds a degree in accounting from West Virginia University and a Masters of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary. He served as an auditor with Arthur Anderson and Co. and G. C. Murphy Company before entering seminary in 1986. He and Marianne have one daughter who is a college student. His hobbies include restoring vintage racing motorcycles to their former glory.

Ministries

Since graduating from seminary, Fr. Tom has served six parishes and was the Priest in Charge of the youth discipleship program for the Diocese of Pittsburgh from 1991 until 2007. His parish ministry began as youth pastor in a small city north of Pittsburgh. He was then assistant rector in a large downtown Pittsburgh congregation, rector of a smaller congregation south of Pittsburgh, rector of Christ Church here in Midland and the founding Rector of All Saints, also here in Midland. Along with his ministry at All Saints, Fr. Tom serves as Vicar of St. Paul’s. He says “I love being with the people of St. Paul’s and deeply appreciate our reverence and devotion in worship. It renews my heart every Sunday.”

His Passion

Fr. Tom’s passion in ministry is making the Bible understandable. Through sermons which explain the Bible in practical, everyday terms to classes which lead you through whole books of the Bible or one of the Bible’s great themes, the goal is always the same: to help you grow in your relationship with God and with others.
